Delivery and Returns
This page gives you a simple overview of how delivery and returns work at School Wear United. For full legal detail, please refer to our downloadable Returns Policy documents below.
Delivery
We aim to get your order out as quickly and reliably as possible. Most orders are dispatched within 1 to 2 business days. The timings shown below apply after your parcel has been dispatched.
Our team works hard to dispatch your order promptly. Most parcels leave our warehouse within 1 to 2 business days. Delivery timeframes depend on the service you choose and start from the point of dispatch, not from the time you place the order.
Deliveries are usually made between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm, although this can vary based on courier availability in your area.
Please note: during busy back-to-school periods, dispatch and delivery may take longer than usual.
For orders under £75, you can choose from the following services:
- Economy Delivery
Delivered in approximately 5 to 7 business days after dispatch: £5.00 - Standard Delivery
Delivered in approximately 4 to 6 business days after dispatch: £7.00 - Premium Express Delivery
Our fastest service, with tracked delivery where available. Delivered in approximately 2 to 3 business days after dispatch: £8.50
Orders over £75 qualify for free delivery, which uses the Economy Delivery service.
We use a small selection of trusted couriers for our deliveries. Your parcel is assigned to a courier based on factors such as size, weight, destination, and overall reliability, so that we can offer a sensible balance between speed and cost.
Deliveries take place from Monday to Friday. Our delivery partners do not normally deliver on weekends or UK bank holidays.
In some cases, an item may be stored in a secondary warehouse, which can add an extra day to dispatch. This is more likely for less common sizes or specialist items.
At peak times, such as the back-to-school period, we reserve the right to extend delivery times. If a parcel arrives later than the estimated date but is still delivered, it does not automatically qualify for a full refund of your order.
Before contacting us, it is helpful to check the following:
- Confirm that your delivery address and contact details are correct on your order confirmation email.
- Check whether your parcel is waiting at a local Post Office or courier depot and whether a redelivery needs to be arranged.
- Ask neighbours and check any safe places where a driver might leave parcels, such as a porch, shed, or garage.
If you have checked these and still have not received your parcel, please contact our team and we will look into it for you.
We can deliver to your home address or your place of work. If you choose delivery to a workplace, please make sure someone will be available to receive the parcel, as couriers deliver to an address, not a named person.
A signature may be required on delivery. If you are not at home, the driver may leave a card explaining where your parcel is or how to rearrange delivery.
Once an order is complete, we are unable to amend the items, delivery address, or payment method, so please double check your details before you confirm the order.
Returns
We follow UK consumer law for online and distance selling and try to make our returns process fair and straightforward. The summaries below are for guidance only. For full details, please refer to our downloadable Returns Policy.
Yes. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the right to cancel most orders within 14 days of receiving your goods, even if you simply change your mind.
To use this right, you should complete and submit our Online Returns Form within 14 days of receiving your parcel, or contact us by email or post with a clear request to cancel.
When you cancel under these rights, the cost of sending the goods back is your responsibility.
If you cancel your order and return the goods, we will refund you within 14 days of either receiving the items back or receiving evidence that they have been sent, whichever comes first.
Your refund will usually include the standard delivery cost, but not any extra amount you paid for faster shipping. We may make a deduction if there is a loss in value due to handling beyond what is needed to check the goods.
Refunds are made using the same payment method you used for your order unless we agree otherwise with you.
Please use our Online Returns Form wherever possible. After you submit the form, you can print a copy to include with your parcel. If you do not have a printer, simply write a note with:
- your full name
- the email address used for your order
- your order number and, if given, your return number
- a brief description and quantity of each item you are returning
- an optional reason for the return

The parcel remains your responsibility until it reaches us, so we strongly recommend using a tracked postal service.
Goods cannot be returned to our retail branches for refund. In most cases, exchanges are handled by placing a new order and returning the original items under the standard returns policy.
If an item is faulty, damaged on arrival, or incorrectly supplied, you are entitled to a refund or replacement in line with your consumer rights. Some faults only show up after normal use, which is taken into account when we review your claim.
You may also be entitled to a refund of both the original shipping and your return postage, usually up to the value of standard Second Class rates. Enhanced services such as First Class or Next Day are treated as personal choices and may not be fully reimbursed.
To start a claim, please complete and submit the Online Returns Form as soon as reasonably possible after you discover the fault, damage, or incorrect supply.
Some items are hygiene restricted and can only be returned if they are faulty, damaged, or incorrectly supplied. These typically include:
- underwear, hosiery, and tights
- mouth guards and similar oral products
- swimwear and swimming accessories
- multi packs where part of the pack is missing
- items that have been tailored, embroidered, or customised
Hygiene restricted items can usually only be returned if they are unopened in their original sealed packaging, unless you are returning them because they are faulty or damaged.

If your order included a free or promotional item, it should be returned with the rest of your order if you are asking for a full refund. For multi pack promotional items, the entire unopened pack must be returned.
If promotional items are kept when a full order is refunded, we may deduct the product’s standard selling price from the refund.
Promotional and free items themselves are not eligible for their own monetary refund or store credit, and return postage for these items alone is not normally reimbursed.
Once your parcel reaches our returns department, we aim to process it within 14 days. You will receive an email confirmation when your refund has been issued.
At busy times, particularly before the start of term, returns may take a little longer, but we always work to handle them as quickly as we can.
